New Delhi: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), operating under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, has officially extended the Round 1 schedule of NEET UG 2025 counselling. This decision was made in response to numerous requests from candidates across India and abroad.

The updated notification, released on 26th July 2025, provides additional time for candidates to complete registration, make payments, and fill in their choices for MBBS and BDS admissions through the centralised counselling process.

Why the Extension Was Announced ?

The MCC received several representations from candidates facing:

• Limited time to arrange documents or confirm NRI status
• Technical delays during payment or registration
• The need for additional time to make informed and verified choices

To ensure a fair and inclusive counselling process, especially for NRI/OCI/PIO candidates, those from reserved categories, and applicants from remote areas with limited internet access, MCC has granted this extension.

Important Guidelines for Candidates

• Complete all steps ahead of the deadlines to avoid last-minute issues or server delays.
• Ensure payment is successfully completed and confirmed by 3:00 PM on 31st July.
• Lock your choices between 4:00 PM and 11:55 PM on 31st July, only locked choices will be considered.
• Be fully prepared with required documents before the reporting phase begins on 4th August 2025.

NRI Quota Update

This extension follows MCC’s recent advisory (issued on 25th July) for NRI/OCI/PIO candidates. These candidates were given a 24-hour window (until 7:00 PM, 26th July) to submit embassy-certified documents to qualify for NRI quota seats.
