The Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Chhattisgarh has released detailed Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for NEET UG 2026 admissions to MBBS and BDS courses under the State Quota. The guidelines, issued in both English and Hindi, provide important clarifications on eligibility, domicile requirements, counselling fees, security deposits, service bonds, document verification and seat-leaving penalties.

Candidates participating in Chhattisgarh NEET UG 2026 counselling through the official DME portal, cgdme.in, are advised to carefully review the FAQs before registering and making their choices.

Chhattisgarh NEET UG 2026 Eligibility and Domicile Rules

Candidates seeking State Quota admission must qualify NEET UG 2026, meet the prescribed academic requirements and possess a valid Chhattisgarh domicile certificate issued by a competent authority such as a Tehsildar or SDM.

Applicants must have passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English. The minimum PCB aggregate requirement is 50% for UR/EWS candidates, 40% for SC/ST/OBC candidates and 45% for General-PwD candidates.

Candidates from other states can apply only for Management Quota seats in private medical colleges and are not eligible for Government Medical Colleges or State Quota seats in private institutions.

The minimum age requirement is 17 years by December 31, 2025, while there is no upper age limit.

The FAQs also clarify that PwD certificates must be issued by the State Medical Board through the Directorate of Medical Education, Chhattisgarh. Category certificates for SC, ST and OBC candidates must follow the prescribed Chhattisgarh government format.

Counselling Registration Fees

Candidates who do not participate in an earlier round can register at the beginning of subsequent counselling rounds, including Round 1, Round 2 and Mop-Up.

Security Deposit for MBBS and BDS Counselling

The applicable security deposit depends on the type of institution and candidate category.

The deposit is refundable when a candidate is not allotted a seat or joins the allotted seat. However, it can be forfeited in cases such as failure to report, being declared scrutiny-unfit or leaving a seat allotted from Round 2 onward.

Candidates whose deposit is forfeited in Round 2 may participate in Round 3 if they were scrutiny-fit for their Round 2 allotment, but they must deposit the security amount again.

Mandatory Service Bond for Government MBBS Students

Candidates admitted to Government Medical Colleges in Chhattisgarh are required to sign a mandatory one-year state government service bond after completing their MBBS course.

The bond does not apply to students admitted to private medical colleges or BDS courses.

The applicable penalty for violating the service bond is:

• UR candidates: ₹25 lakh
• SC/ST/OBC candidates: ₹20 lakh

Seat-Leaving and Discontinuation Penalties

The FAQs also specify rules regarding resignation and discontinuation of seats. Generally, candidates can exit without a penalty only during Round 1.

After joining a Round 2 seat or retaining a seat beyond the prescribed resignation deadline, candidates cannot resign without applicable penalties.

Leaving a course after the Mop-Up Round's final admission date may attract a seat-leaving or discontinuation bond, which can be equivalent to the remaining tuition fee or a prescribed fixed penalty, depending on the course and institution.

Private College Fees for 2026

These fees are regulated by the State Fee Regulatory Committee and do not include hostel and mess charges. The actual fee may vary between colleges.

Document Verification and Admission Requirements

Physical reporting with original documents at the designated nodal scrutiny centre is mandatory for allotted candidates. A clearance receipt from the scrutiny committee is required before final admission.

For Government College seats, candidates must complete reporting and admission formalities. Failure to report or being declared scrutiny-unfit can result in debarment from subsequent state counselling rounds.

For private college seats, admission may not be compulsory, but candidates must complete the required scrutiny process to remain eligible for subsequent rounds.

Vacant Seat Conversion Rules

The FAQs further clarify that vacant reserved seats will be converted according to Rule 8 of the Chhattisgarh admission rules. Vacant EWS seats will be converted into Unreserved seats.

For vacant Management and NRI quota seats, candidates holding Chhattisgarh domicile will receive priority over applicants from other states.

Other Important Clarifications

Candidates should also note that re-registration is not permitted during the counselling process, meaning a candidate can register only once.

Candidates claiming OBC status must submit a valid Chhattisgarh OBC certificate, domicile certificate and an income certificate from any one of the last three financial years.
