Karnataka Opens Seat Cancellation Window for Medical and Dental Admissions

KEA has opened a seat cancellation window for NEET UG 2026 Medical and Dental admissions. Candidates can surrender their KEA-allotted seats as per the prescribed deadlines, rules and applicable cancellation fees.

Karnataka Opens Seat Cancellation Window for Medical and Dental Admissions

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has issued a notice regarding seat cancellation for Medical and Dental admissions under NEET UG 2026 counselling.

KEA stated that candidates who were allotted seats through both MCC and KEA counselling and now wish to accept their MCC-allotted seats can exit the KEA counselling process. A special window has been provided for candidates seeking cancellation of their KEA-allotted seats.

KEA Seat Cancellation Window

Candidates can exit the KEA counselling process from 4:00 PM on September 17, 2026, to 5:00 PM on September 20, 2026. Seats surrendered during this period will be considered for the third round of seat allotment.

Study MBBS Abroad 2025-26, Fees 2 lakh Per Year.

Candidates who were not allotted a seat through MCC counselling but still wish to cancel their KEA allotment may also cancel their seats according to the applicable rules. Such candidates may participate in the third round of medical and dental counselling, subject to the prescribed conditions.

KEA Seat Cancellation Penalties

Cancellation stage Applicable penalty
Cancelling a seat allotted in Round 1 after admission ₹5,000
Cancelling after Round 2 but before the last date for Round 3 options ₹5,000 + ₹5,000
Cancelling after the Round 3 option deadline but before the Stray Vacancy Round option deadline ₹5,000 + ₹5,000 + ₹1,00,000 for Medical / ₹50,000 for Dental / ₹25,000 for AYUSH
Cancelling after the Stray Vacancy Round option deadline or surrendering after completion of Stray Vacancy Round ₹5,000 + ₹5,000 + ₹1,00,000, along with one-year course fee; candidates will also be ineligible for UG counselling for the next three years

Candidates are advised to carefully check the applicable cancellation rules and penalties before surrendering their allotted seats.
