MCC Fake Notice Alert: The viral claim about NEET UG 2026 percentile reduction is fake. Candidates should trust only official MCC notices for verified updates.

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has issued an advisory dated 13 October 2026 clarifying that a notice about the reduction of percentile for NEET UG Counselling 2026, which is being circulated in the public domain, is fake. MCC has stated that no such decision on percentile reduction has been taken by the competent authority.

What Is the Fake Notice?

  • MCC received information that a “notice” about lowering the NEET UG 2026 counselling percentile was going around on social media and other public platforms
  • The fake notice is dated 12 October 2026 and carries the reference number U-12021/05/2024-MEC. It falsely claims that the percentile was lowered by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) in consultation with the National Medical Commission (NMC)
  • It claims that General/EWS candidates with 15 percentile and above, and SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates with 10 percentile and above, would be eligible for counselling
  • MCC has confirmed that no such decision has been taken and that this notice is fake

The genuine MCC advisory carries the reference number U-11011/07/2026-MEC and was posted on 13 October 2026.
