NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the minimum Class 12 percentage requirements for NEET 2025 eligibility, with criteria varying across different categories. Candidates must fulfill these requirements to qualify for the examination. To ensure eligibility, aspirants should focus on maintaining consistent preparation and adopting an exam-oriented strategy.

Minimum Class 12 Percentage Requirements for NEET 2025

The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts NEET annually to facilitate admissions into undergraduate medical and dental programs across India. Given the high level of competition, understanding the eligibility criteria is essential. The minimum Class 12 percentage requirements for NEET 2025 differ by category including General, Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC-NCL) and Persons with Disabilities (PwD/PwBD).

General Category

Candidates belonging to the General category must secure a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology in Class 12.

SC/ST/OBC (NCL) Categories

Candidates from SC, ST, and OBC (NCL) categories need to obtain at least 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology.

PwBD/PwD Category

Candidates in the PwBD/PwD category are required to achieve a minimum of 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology.

Students from Abroad

Candidates who have completed their Class 12 education abroad and seek admission to Indian medical colleges must have passed Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English with a minimum of 50% marks. The Association of Indian Universities (AIU) determines the equivalence of their qualifications, following guidelines from the National Medical Commission (NMC) and the respective university.

NEET 2025 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria to appear for NEET 2025:

  • Age Limit: Candidates must be at least 17 years old as of December 31, 2025 with no upper age limit.
  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English as their core subjects.
  • Nationality: NEET 2025 is open to Indian Citizens, Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), Non-Resident Indians (NRI) and Foreign Nationals.
