NEET UG 2026: Over 26 Lakh Students Register, Competition Reaches Record High

National Testing Agency (NTA) has reported a record-breaking number of registrations for NEET UG 2026, with more than 26 lakh students applying for the exam.

This surge reflects the increasing demand for MBBS and other medical courses across India. Over the past few years, the number of aspirants has consistently grown, making the exam more competitive each year.

Although the government has expanded medical infrastructure and increased MBBS seats, the gap between available seats and applicants remains significantly high. As a result, experts predict a higher cut-off and tougher competition for government medical colleges in 2026.
