NEET UG 2026 Important Notice on MBBS/BDS Choice Filling Process

The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell has released Notice No. 12 concerning the MBBS and BDS choice filling process under NEET-UG 2026 counselling. The notice provides important instructions for candidates and addresses the inclusion of candidates whose NEET-UG results were previously withheld following directions from the Bombay High Court and Delhi High Court.

Revised Final Merit List to Be Issued

The CET Cell stated that the National Testing Agency (NTA) had withheld the results of certain candidates. Following recent court orders, the results of the concerned petitioner candidates are to be declared and shared with the CET Cell by 27 August 2026.

After receiving the results, these candidates will be permitted to participate in the ongoing Centralized Admission Process (CAP). Their inclusion may affect the existing merit position, following which the CET Cell will publish a Revised Final Merit List on its official website.

Choice Filling and Editing Deadline

Candidates participating in the MBBS/BDS counselling process can fill and modify their preferences within the prescribed schedule.

The choice filling/editing window will remain open until 29 August 2026, 5:30 PM. Candidates who wish to modify their submitted preferences must unlock the preference form using an OTP sent to their registered mobile number and email ID.

The CET Cell has also clarified that candidates may edit their choices after the declaration of the Revised Final Merit List, if required.

Important Instructions for Candidates

Candidates should keep the following points in mind while filling their preferences:

  1. Candidates can select a minimum of one college and up to all available colleges.
  2. Private medical colleges may have separate State Quota and Institute Quota seats with different fee structures. Candidates should select the appropriate quota carefully.
  3. Candidates must verify whether their preferred institution offers MBBS or BDS before submitting their choices.
  4. Preferences should be arranged in order of priority, with the most preferred college and quota placed first.
  5. After entering all desired choices, candidates should lock the preference form.
  6. Submitted or locked preferences can be edited during the permitted period through OTP verification.
  7. The last saved or locked preferences will be considered for the seat allotment process.
  8. If a candidate does not lock the form, the last saved preferences will be automatically considered at the end of the scheduled period. No changes will be permitted after the deadline.
  9. Candidates should complete the choice filling process well before the deadline to avoid technical issues, internet problems, or last-minute delays.
  10. Candidates must keep their login credentials confidential. Any choices submitted through a candidate's login will be treated as having been entered by the candidate.

What Candidates Should Do

Candidates are advised to regularly check the Maharashtra CET Cell official website for the Revised Final Merit List and further counselling updates. They should complete and verify their MBBS/BDS preferences before 29 August 2026, 5:30 PM and keep their registered mobile number and email ID accessible for OTP verification.

The revised merit list following the inclusion of the court-directed candidates may affect the counselling process and seat allotment, making it important for candidates to carefully review their preferences and stay updated with the latest CET Cell notifications.
