NMC Approves Additional DM and M.Ch Seats After First Appeal Committee Decision
In a significant update for postgraduate medical education, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved additional super-speciality postgraduate seats in selected medical colleges for the Academic Year 2025–26. The decision was taken after reviewing appeals submitted by institutions to the First Appeal Committee under the NMC Act, 2019.
The Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) clarified that the list of newly approved seats will be considered a valid document for the counselling process and counselling authorities do not need to wait for the official Letters of Permission (LOPs) to include these seats in the counselling rounds.
This decision is expected to slightly increase the availability of super-speciality seats such as DM Cardiology and M.Ch Urology, offering more opportunities for eligible NEET PG candidates.
