NTA Announces Student-Friendly Changes for NEET UG 2026
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has introduced fresh candidate-friendly measures for NEET (UG)-2026, scheduled for June 21, 2026.
Key Changes
Extended Exam Window: The examination duration has been increased to 195 minutes (2:00 PM to 5:15 PM), accounting for time spent on attendance signing and invigilation formalities — ensuring students get full time to attempt the paper.
More Rough Work Space: Candidates will now get four rough-work pages instead of two, providing extra room for calculations and workings.
Redesigned Booklet Layout: Two rough-work pages will now appear right after the instruction page at the start of the booklet (with two more at the end), addressing feedback that the earlier end-only placement was inconvenient, particularly for left-handed students. This applies to both English and regional language papers.
NTA Statement
The agency said even small design improvements can meaningfully ease the experience of candidates in a high-stakes exam and that these changes aim to enhance comfort while maintaining fairness and security.
Advisory
Candidates are urged to carefully read the Admit Card and Information Bulletin instructions and cooperate with exam staff for smooth conduct.
