The Selection Committee, Directorate of Medical Education & Research (DME), Chennai, has released the tentative Round 3 counselling schedule for MBBS and BDS admission under the 7.5% special reservation for Tamil Nadu Government School students for the 2026-27 session. The round covers re-allotment and allotment for Government Medical and Dental Colleges, ESIC Medical College (K.K. Nagar, Chennai), Government Quota seats in self-financing medical and dental colleges, and State Private Universities.

Round 3 Schedule

Ranks covered in this round are GR 001 to GR 3625 (GR is General Rank), corresponding to NEET marks from 599 to 177.

Who Needs to Register

• Candidates who were not allotted any seat must register for Round 3.
• Candidates who joined in Round 2 and opted for upgradation in the college portal need not register again. Their seats will be shown as virtual vacancies.
• Candidates who joined in Round 2 but chose "No" for upgradation, and now want to upgrade, must log in during the registration window to confirm participation. Otherwise they will not be eligible for upgradation.
• Candidates who joined in Round 1, opted for upgradation, but were retained in Round 2 must also log in during registration if they want to upgrade.
• Candidates who want to retain their current seat need not participate. If they had opted for upgradation earlier but now wish to stay, they can skip choice filling and the seat will be retained automatically.

Choice Filling and Seat Rules

• Choice filling follows registration. Candidates seeking upgradation, unallotted candidates and those who did not join must fill choices.
• Choices can be edited any number of times before locking, but cannot be changed once locked. Unlocked choices will be locked automatically at 5:00 PM on 09-10-2026.
• A candidate who is upgraded in Round 3 must give up the Round 1 or Round 2 seat and join the Round 3 seat, with no rights over the earlier one.
• Seats vacated by upgraded candidates will be allotted to other candidates in descending order of rank.
• A seat released by a candidate opting for upgradation appears as a virtual vacancy. It becomes a real vacancy, and can be allotted, only if that candidate actually vacates or upgrades in Round 3.
• Candidates allotted a seat in Round 3 must join the allotted college and will not be eligible for the stray vacancy round.

Fees

No processing fee, security deposit or tuition fee applies to the 7.5% special reservation for Tamil Nadu Government School students.

Reporting to the College

• Certificate verification takes place at the selected college.
• Candidates must bring original certificates and scanned copies of the originals when joining.
• Candidates who do not report by the stipulated date and time will have their selection or admission cancelled without notice.
• Selected candidates must submit a self-declaration at the college, accepting that admission is liable to be forfeited if suppression or misinterpretation of facts is found at any time.

The Committee has warned candidates not to share their login ID, password or OTP with anyone. It will not contact candidates individually, and all updates will be posted on www.tnmedicalselection.org. The Committee also says it takes no responsibility for connectivity or procedural errors.
