The Selection Committee, Directorate of Medical Education & Research (DME&R), Tamil Nadu, has announced that the last date to apply for MBBS and BDS admissions for the 2026-27 academic session is July 23, 2026, up to 5:00 PM.
The official notification was issued on July 17, 2026, from the Selection Committee office, Kilpauk, Chennai. The application process for Tamil Nadu UG medical admissions started on June 29, 2026, after the release of the required document list on April 28, 2026.
Following the declaration of NEET UG 2026 results on July 16, 2026, the Committee decided to keep the application window open for one more week to allow eligible candidates to complete their submissions. Till now, more than 41,000 candidates have successfully submitted their applications.
No Further Extension of Deadline
The Tamil Nadu Medical Selection Committee has clarified that no extension will be provided beyond July 23, 2026. The decision has been taken considering the upcoming counselling schedule and the time required for:
- Scrutiny of submitted applications
- Release of the list of ineligible candidates
- Opening of the grievance redressal window for rejected candidates
- Coordination with the expected UG medical counselling timeline by DGHS
