Tamil Nadu Medical & Dental Colleges 2026: Hostel, Mess & Other Fees Disclosed
Self-financing medical and dental colleges across Tamil Nadu have disclosed their fee structures for hostel accommodation, mess, transportation and other institutional charges ahead of the 2026 admission counselling process.
The disclosure has been made in compliance with the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court in Special Leave Petition (Civil) No. 9298 of 2018, which requires private and deemed medical and dental institutions to clearly publish tuition fees, hostel charges, caution deposits and other miscellaneous expenses before counselling.
Why the Fee Disclosure Is Important
The Supreme Court’s directive aims to ensure greater transparency in medical and dental admissions. By making all applicable charges available before counselling, candidates and parents can compare the total cost of studying at different institutions and make informed choices.
Colleges have also been directed to publish their respective fee structures on their official websites.
What Fees Have Been Disclosed?
The college-wise disclosures include several components beyond tuition fees, such as:
- Hostel Fees: Charges vary according to accommodation type, including AC/non-AC, single and shared rooms.
- Mess Fees: Monthly or annual charges differ from one institution to another.
- Transportation Fees: Applicable at several colleges, while some institutions list the charge as nil or optional.
- Other Charges: These may include development fees, books and instruments, uniforms, university registration, special fees and caution deposits.
