The Directorate General of Medical Education and Training (DGME), Uttar Pradesh, has issued important guidelines for the second round of online counselling for UP NEET UG 2026. The instructions cover merit-based seat allotment, choice filling, security deposit, free exit, seat upgradation, reporting and admission formalities.

According to the notice dated September 12, 2026, seat allotment in Round 2 will be made on the basis of the Round 2 merit list. Candidates who participated in Round 1 and were not allotted a seat do not need to submit the security deposit again for Round 2. Candidates allotted a Round 1 seat who did not take admission or received a free exit can also participate in Round 2 without depositing the security amount again.

Key Guidelines for UP NEET UG Round 2 Counselling 2026

• Round 2 seat allotment will be conducted according to the Round 2 merit list.
• Candidates who were not allotted a seat in Round 1 do not have to deposit the security amount again.
• Candidates who received a Free Exit after Round 1 can participate in Round 2 without making another security deposit.
• Only candidates who have completed the required registration/security deposit and document verification will be eligible for choice filling.
• During Round 2 choice filling, vacant, not-reported and resigned seats will be displayed. Seats under the Seat Against Cancellation (SAC) category will also be shown.
• There is no limit on the number of choices candidates can fill. Candidates are advised to fill only those colleges/seats where they genuinely wish to take admission.
• Once choices are locked, no change or modification will be permitted.
• Candidates allotted seats through upgradation will have their previously allotted seat replaced by the newly allotted seat. If there is no upgradation, the earlier seat will remain valid.
• Candidates must carefully select choices because if their earlier seat is allotted again during the re-allotment process, they may have to complete the admission process at the nodal centre.
• Candidates allotted seats in government or private medical/dental colleges in Round 2 must take admission within the prescribed period. Otherwise, the deposited security amount may be forfeited.
• Candidates who wish to participate in Round 3 after leaving a Round 2 seat will need to deposit the security amount again as applicable.
• Candidates allotted a seat must report to the concerned medical/dental college, institution/university or nodal centre and complete admission formalities.
• For private medical/dental colleges, the prescribed tuition fee demand draft in favour of the Director General Medical Education & Training, Uttar Pradesh, payable at Lucknow, must be submitted at the concerned nodal centre. Failure to do so may result in cancellation of admission.
• Candidates allotted seats are required to undergo medical examination at the designated medical board at the medical/dental college or nodal centre.
• Candidates should follow the provisions of the relevant UP NEET UG 2026 government order and brochure before participating in counselling.
• Candidates are advised to regularly monitor the official counselling websites for further updates: upneet.gov.in and dgme.up.gov.in.

Candidates participating in UP NEET UG 2026 Round 2 counselling should fill their choices carefully and lock them within the prescribed schedule. Those allotted seats must complete reporting, fee payment, medical examination and other admission formalities within the stipulated deadline to avoid cancellation or forfeiture of the security deposit.
