West Bengal has announced September 15, 2026, as the formal commencement date for the UG MBBS and BDS academic session 2026-27, following the NEET UG Round 2 counselling schedule.

West Bengal NEET UG 2026-27 Academic Session for MBBS & BDS to Begin September 15

The Directorate of Medical Education, Government of West Bengal, has announced the formal commencement of the UG Medical and Dental academic session 2026-27. As per the memo issued on September 10, 2026, the new academic session for MBBS and BDS courses will officially begin from September 15, 2026.

The memo, bearing reference number HFW-23099/320/2026/M/2355, has been issued to the Directors, Principals and Deans of all Government and private medical and dental colleges in West Bengal. Colleges have been directed to prepare their respective academic routines accordingly.

To ensure the counselling process is completed within the prescribed timeline, all participating medical and dental colleges have been instructed to treat Saturdays, Sundays and Gazetted Holidays as working days.

Candidates allotted MBBS or BDS seats through Round 2 counselling must complete their admission and joining formalities within the prescribed deadline. The last date for joining is September 18, 2026, while the formal academic session will commence from September 15, 2026.
