Buryat State University, named after Dorzhi Banzarov (BSU), began its history on February 10, 1932. BSU was officially established on September 30, 1995. This happened when the Decree of the Council of People’s Commissars of the RSFSR led to the opening of the Buryat-Mongolian Agro-Pedagogical Institute in the city of Verkhneudinsk. M.P. Khabaev was appointed as the director of the newly created university. Buryat State University is now considered one of the best medical colleges in Russia.
