67 Candidates Bag Top Rank In NEET 2024: This year, 67 candidates have secured the top rank in the MBBS entrance exam - NEET 2024. Among the top rankers in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), 14 are girls.

Out of these 67 candidates, the highest number, 11, are from Rajasthan, followed by eight from Tamil Nadu, and seven from Maharashtra.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) released the NEET 2024 results yesterday, June 4, 2024. Candidates can now view their NEET results for undergraduate courses on the official NTA NEET website. Along with the NEET results, the NTA has also published the names of the all-India toppers and the category-wise cut-off marks and percentile ranks.

It was reported that 56.4 percent of the candidates have passed the exam, which was held on May 5 at centers across the country and abroad.

"Sixty-seven candidates achieved the same 99.997129 percentile score, resulting in a shared all-India rank one. The merit list will be determined using a tie-breaking formula where candidates with higher marks or percentile scores in Biology will be prioritized, followed by Chemistry and Physics," a senior NTA official told PTI.

"Subsequently, candidates with a lower ratio of attempted incorrect answers to correct answers in all subjects of the test, or specifically in Biology, followed by Chemistry and Physics, will be prioritized," the official added.

A record 24.06 lakh candidates registered for NEET this year, with the passing percentage remaining nearly the same as last year at 56.2 percent.

Among those who qualified for the country's largest entrance exam for admission to MBBS and BDS courses at the undergraduate level, 5,47,036 are male, 7,69,222 are female, and 10 are transgender, according to the NTA.

The examination was conducted in 13 languages: Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

NEET-UG is the qualifying entrance exam for admission to several courses, including Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS), Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery (BSMS), Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS), Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS), and BSc (H) Nursing courses.

There are over 80,000 MBBS seats across more than 540 medical colleges in the country. Of the 13,16,268 qualified candidates, 3,33,932 are from the unreserved category, 6,18,890 from the OBC category, 1,78,738 from SC, 68,479 from ST, and 1,16,229 from the EWS category. Additionally, 4,120 candidates from the Persons with Disabilities category also qualified for the exam.

This year saw an increase in qualifying marks. For example, the qualifying marks range for the unreserved category last year was 720-137, which has risen to 720-164 this year. Similarly, for OBC, SC, and ST categories, it increased from 136-107 last year to 163-129 this year.

"The NEET (UG) - 2024 results have been declared based on the qualifying criteria set by the National Medical Commission and Dental Council of India, as well as the information provided by candidates in their online application forms,” the NTA stated to PTI.

In terms of state-wise performance, Uttar Pradesh had the highest number of qualified candidates (1,16,047), followed by Maharashtra (1,42,665), Rajasthan (1,21,240), and Tamil Nadu (89,426).

Meanwhile, the NTA has also conducted post-exam data analysis to detect cases of Unfair Means (UFM).

"Action on UFM cases is taken according to existing rules, which include cancellation of candidature and debarment from future examinations,” the agency said.

"Qualified candidates should note that they need to complete further formalities with the respective Counseling Authorities, such as DGHS and State Medical Education Directorates, for admission to MBBS/BDS courses," the NTA added.
