The NTA organized a re-exam for 1,563 NEET UG 2024 candidates following recommendations from a 'high-powered' committee. This committee was formed to address grievances related to grace marks awarded to over 1,500 students due to time lost during the exam. Many aspirants had filed petitions in high courts and the Supreme Court, challenging the additional marks and demanding a re-test due to irregularities and allegations of a paper leak.

Candidates who did not attend the NEET 2024 re-exam will have to accept their original scores before the addition of compensatory marks, as per NTA’s instructions.

The Supreme Court had previously canceled the NEET 2024 results for candidates awarded grace marks, following widespread protests by students and others concerned about alleged rigging in the results.
