NEET UG 2024: SC refuses to grant stay on result declaration over alleged paper leak
SC refuses to grant stay on result declaration over alleged paper leak: On Friday, the Supreme Court declined to stay the results of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET UG) 2024 exam, according to Live Law. The court was addressing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) that called for a re-conduct of the NEET UG exam due to alleged malpractices and paper leaks this year.
The petition was scheduled for a hearing after the summer holiday in July by a bench led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, along with Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra. However, the Chief Justice noted that the results of "an all-India exam" could not be invalidated at this stage.
A Bench consisting of Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala, and Justice Manoj Misra stated that it cannot halt a nationwide exam but proceeded to issue a notice to the Central government regarding the plea, requesting its response.
"We will schedule it for after the summer break, but we cannot halt the results of a nationwide exam," the Court remarked.
NEET UG 2024: Paper Leak Allegations The petition, filed by Vanshika Yadav through advocate Sunny Kadian, alleges that during the NEET undergraduate examination in Rajasthan, the question paper was leaked before the exam, and incorrect question papers were distributed to candidates, causing confusion and chaos.
The plea further claims that more serious incidents occurred in Patna, Bihar, where numerous individuals were arrested by the state police based on credible information that they had received the question paper a day before the examination.
The NTA is anticipated to release the NEET UG 2024 result on June 14, 2024. The link to the NEET UG 2024 result will be activated on the official website, exams.nta.ac.in/NEET. Students will need to use their login credentials, such as registration number and date of birth, to download the NEET UG result 2024.
