Tula State University was established in 1930 and is the largest state university in Tula, Central Russia. Since 2006, Mikhail Gryazev has led the university as its rector. TSU educates over 20,000 students, including 400 postgraduates and 600 international students. It has nine faculties, a medical institute, a centre for pre-university studies and 73 departments. The university offers more than 150 study programs in fields like defense, technology, medicine and humanities, with over 1,200 faculty members and 2,400 staff. In 2007, TSU received the RF Government Award for Education, and its faculty earned state awards for innovations in education and medical research.
