Overall Paper Review: Balanced but Tricky

NEET UG 2025 was slightly tougher than last year. Physics and chemistry was the most difficult section which had more numerical-based questions. However, Biology remained mostly theoretical and NCERT-focused, offering relief to many aspirants.

“The paper was balanced but not easy. Physics had more tricky questions than last year, while Biology was straightforward for those who studied NCERT thoroughly,” said Dr. Amit Kumar, NEET Mentor at Aakash Institute.

Subject-wise Analysis

1. Biology (Botany & Zoology):

  • Questions were mostly from NCERT.
  • Botany was theory-based, while Zoology included a few diagram-based and application questions.
  • Major topics: Genetics, Human Physiology, Ecology.
  • Experts say it was similar to last year and scoring for well-prepared students.

2. Chemistry:

  • Physical Chemistry had many calculations, especially from Electrochemistry and Thermodynamics.
  • Organic Chemistry focused on reaction mechanisms and named reactions.
  • Inorganic Chemistry was NCERT-based but included a few surprises.

“Students who practised numericals would find Chemistry doable, but those relying only on theory may have struggled,” said Prof. Rajesh Mehta, Chemistry Faculty at Allen Kota.

3. Physics:

  • The toughest section according to most students.
  • Heavily focused on Mechanics and Electrodynamics with lengthy, calculation-heavy problems.
  • Modern Physics was easier but still had some tricky questions.

“Physics was undoubtedly tougher than last year. Speed and accuracy were crucial,” remarked Dr. Sanjay Verma, Physics Coach.

Comparison with NEET 2024

  • Biology: Similar to last year but slightly more application-based.
  • Chemistry: Tougher than 2024 due to increased numerical questions.
  • Physics: Harder than last year with more conceptual and time-consuming problems.

Expected Cut-off Trends

Due to the difficulty level, especially in Physics and Chemistry, experts believe the cut-off may drop slightly compared to 2024.

  • General Category: Expected between 680–720 (last year: 700–720).
  • OBC/SC/ST: A slight decrease is expected.
“Physics was tough for many, so we might see a cut-off drop of 5–10 marks,” said Mr. Anil Bhargava, NEET Counselling Expert.

What Should Students Do Next?

  • Wait for the official answer keys from NTA (to be released soon).
  • Start researching colleges based on your expected score.
  • Keep options open through state quotas or other medical entrance routes like AIIMS and JIPMER.
  • Be ready for the counselling process and stay updated with dates and procedures.

NEET UG 2025 was more challenging than 2024, mainly due to the tough Physics and Chemistry sections. However, students who studied NCERT well and practiced problem-solving should remain hopeful. The next important step is to match answers with the key and plan wisely for counselling.
