KEA has released the Karnataka MBBS fee structure for 2026-27 across government, minority, private, and deemed colleges.
The state examinations authority has fixed annual fees for MBBS seats across Karnataka's medical colleges, giving NEET UG aspirants a clearer picture of what each quota will cost this admission cycle.
What Has Happened
The Karnataka Examinations Authority, along with the state Department of Medical Education, has notified the college-wise MBBS fee structure for the 2026-27 academic year. The fees follow two government orders dated 13 and 14 August 2026, issued after consensus meetings held in June 2026 between the Medical Education Department and representatives of private medical college associations in the state.
Fee tables like this one are useful, but they rarely answer the question families actually have: which college fits both the rank and the budget. Working through quota eligibility, seat-matrix odds, and total cost across four years of the different fee categories below is exactly where a second opinion from an experienced counsellor tends to help.
Fee Structure Highlights
The notification covers 68 medical colleges across four categories: government, minority (linguistic or religious), private unaided, and private or deemed university, with separate fee slabs for government-quota, private-quota, management-quota, and NRI-quota seats.
Government Medical Colleges
- Government-quota MBBS fee: approximately Rs 64,350 per year at most government colleges; Rs 1,09,350 per year at ESI Medical Colleges in Bengaluru and Gulbarga
- Management-quota fee at several government colleges under the seat-sharing arrangement (including Mysore, Mandya, Hassan, Hubli, Belgaum, Bellary, Bidar, Raichur, Gulbarga, and Koppal): around Rs 25,09,350 per year, applicable to both management and NRI-category seats
- ESI Medical College seats under the all-India and state quota carry a fee of roughly Rs 1,00,000 per year
Minority Colleges
- Government-quota fee: about Rs 1,53,571 per year
- Private-quota fee: about Rs 12,00,117 per year
- Management or NRI-quota fees range from roughly Rs 27 lakh to Rs 44 lakh per year depending on the college
Private Unaided Colleges
- Government-quota fee: about Rs 1,53,571 per year
- Private-quota fee: about Rs 12,00,117 per year
- Management or NRI-quota fees range from roughly Rs 26.3 lakh to Rs 43.1 lakh per year
Private and Deemed Universities
- Fees vary widely by institution, with government or private-quota fees ranging from nil to over Rs 6 lakh, and management or NRI-quota fees going up to around Rs 45 lakh per year at some deemed universities
Fee for Institutions Under Sri Jagadguru Murugarajendra University, Chitradurga
A separate order fixes government-quota fees for this group of institutions for 2026-27:
| Course | Government Quota Fee | Management or NRI Quota Fee |
|---|---|---|
| MBBS at Basaveshwara Medical College and Hospital | Rs 22,50,000 | Rs 34,50,000 |
| BDS at JJM Dental College | Rs 4,00,000 | Rs 4,00,000 |
Important Clarification
The government order notes that the fees listed do not apply to NRI and other management-quota seats in every case, and institutions are directed to factor in the concerned management's approval before finalising such seats, with a cap of Rs 45,00,000 per year for these seats.
What This Means for Candidates
- Candidates in Karnataka's 2026-27 MBBS and BDS counselling should check their allotted college's fee category, whether government, minority, private unaided, or deemed university, to estimate the applicable annual cost.
- All fees listed are per year and remain subject to further clarification or circulars from the authority and the Medical Education Department.
- Candidates are advised to check the official counselling portal for the complete, updated fee structure before choice filling begins.
Choosing the Right College on Budget
Two colleges with similar cutoffs can carry very different four-year costs once management and NRI-quota fees are factored in. If you are weighing a government seat at a higher fee bracket against a private-quota seat elsewhere, a counsellor experienced with Karnataka's seat-sharing rules can help you compare total cost against realistic admission chances before you lock in your choices.
