70 Medical Colleges Under NMC Scanner for CCTV NVR Non-Compliance
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has released the names of 70 medical colleges and institutions across India that have failed to connect their CCTV Network Video Recorder (NVR) systems with the Commission's Command & Control Center, despite multiple advisories issued over the past four years. The public notice, issued on July 6, 2026, directs all non-compliant institutions to complete the integration immediately.
According to the NMC, every medical college is required to install 25 CCTV cameras at designated locations, connect them to a Network Video Recorder (NVR), provide live CCTV access to the NMC Command & Control Center, and maintain 30 days of video playback. These requirements are mandatory under the UGMSR-2023, PGMSR-2023 (Amendment), and MARB Regulations 2023.
Key Highlights
- Public Notice No.: N-16014(18)/1/2026-IT-NMC (e-8407870)
- Issued By: IT Division, National Medical Commission
- Date of Notice: July 6, 2026
- Signed By: Dr. Raghav Langer, Secretary, NMC
- Total Non-Compliant Institutions: 70 (UG and PG)

Why the Notice Was Issued
The Commission stated that it has repeatedly reminded medical colleges to comply with CCTV surveillance norms through multiple advisories issued since 2022. Despite continuous follow-up by the NMC IT Division, 70 institutions have not yet linked their NVR systems with the Commission's monitoring platform. As a result, these colleges have now been officially listed as non-compliant.
What Medical Colleges Must Do
Under the existing regulations, every medical college must:
- Install 25 CCTV cameras at prescribed locations.
- Set up a Network Video Recorder (NVR).
- Provide live CCTV feed to the NMC Command & Control Center.
- Maintain at least 30 days of CCTV recording.
- Ensure uninterrupted connectivity with the Commission.
Immediate Action Ordered
NMC has directed all colleges listed in the notice to complete the CCTV-NVR integration without delay. Institutions requiring technical assistance have been advised to contact the Commission's dedicated support team for implementation-related issues.
